George Fox women’s basketball team to play for national title

The George Fox Bruins will play Washington University–St. Louis in the NCAA Division III title game at 1 pm today.

George Fox made 14 threes in their game friday to win 67-52 over the College of New Jersey and clinch their spot in the championship game.

The Bruins swept through the Northwest Conference, winning both the regular season title and the conference playoffs. They entered tournament play at No. 3 in the nationa according to D3hoops.com, while Washinton University entered at No. 6. Whitman played both teams during their season, beating Washington 72-60 while losing twice to undefeated George Fox.

Washington is no stranger to the national stage. The Bears won four straight titles from 1998-2001 and have made eight final fours.
