The Pioneer is initiating a Graduation Edition focused on Whitman’s seniors. The Graduation Edition will come out the week before Graduation 2009 and will be available on campus through graduation.  This special issue will include a review of events from the past four years, seniors’ post-graduate plans, insights from faculty and administrators and spotlights on seniors.  We hope that this issue will be a centerpiece for the Whitman community, documenting the class of 2009 and their accomplishments and serve as an important part of seniors’ remembrance of Whitman, as Whitman has no yearbook.

Note: Space must be reserved by April 17 to ensure placement.

Senior Advertisements

An important part of the edition is a new advertisement service to families and friends of graduates, giving them a way to formally celebrate their student. Celebration ads can include pictures of the graduate, a special poem or quote, and a note from their family. Our production staff will work with you to develop a wonderful, personalized ad for your senior.

Business Advertisements

An important part of this edition is the unique local business advertising opportunity. Whitman College is home to 1,454 students —over graduation we expect approximately 3,500 people, including family and professors, in Walla Walla to celebrate—making it a strong opportunity for businesses who can attract them. The Graduation Edition will be the most effective way for you to tap this transient spending because the Whitman community will be reading and referring to the paper continually over graduation week. The Pioneer is a weekly publication with a circulation of 1,100 papers, but for the Graduation Edition we will be nearly tripling our circulation to 3,000 papers to accommodate the expanded readership and have papers continually available throughout the campus all week.
