Lindsey Jacobs currently rests in a medically induced coma at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, Ore., according to an email President George Bridges sent to the Whitman community earlier today.

Jacobs suffers from “serious head injuries,” according to Bridges’ e-mail. While nurses have reported signs of improvement, Jacobs’ long-term prognosis remains unknown.

Katie Radosevic, also still at Legacy Emanuel, has pelvic fractures and will undergo surgery tomorrow. She is expected to make a full recovery and will return to campus either late this semester or next semester.

The accident occurred Friday afternoon when a sport utility vehicle driven by sophomore Maggie Allen collided with a semi-truck.

Allen, who returned to campus Friday, will undergo treatment for a broken shoulder. Khoa Nguyen, who suffered a concussion, also returned to campus Friday. Healthcare workers in Walla Walla will continue to observe both Allen and Nguyen as they continue to heal.

Students who wish to support the crash victims have several options for doing so.

In Reid Campus Center today and tomorrow there are “Get Well Soon” posters for all four victims that students may sign.

In the Prentiss Spirituality Room at 9 p.m. tonight will be a gathering “to offer positive thoughts and prayers for the victims…and their families,” said Stuart Coordinator of Religious and Spiritual Life Adam Kirtley in an e-mail.

And, as the Pioneer reported yesterday, the Global Awareness Interest House is collecting cards for the crash victims.
