Letter to the Editor
To the Editor,
The recent article about one-year sabbaticals may have given readers the impression that Professor Dana Burgess’ current sabbatical left several classics majors without an advisor. As Chair of the Department of Classics, I would like to assure The Pioneer’s readers that all of Professor Burgess’s major advisees were reassigned to other regular faculty in the Department before the beginning of this academic year. The Department of Classics takes its advising responsibilities to its majors very seriously. As a very small department, we are proud that we have managed to cover the advising needs of all our majors as well as to offer our complete regular sequence of courses and thesis supervisions during Professor Burgess’ sabbatical.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Vandiver
